Ahead of the release of her latest album, Chopin: Complete Mazurkas, Janina Fialkowska talks to CBC Music about her love for the composer’s music, the role of the pianist, and what can be learnt about the composer through the recording.

Fialkowska has a busy season ahead. This autumn she’ll be hosting her fourth Akademie in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps for young artists, before returning to Canada for another recording project and recital tour of Ontario and the Maritimes. She’s also completing a book about her life as a touring concert pianist.

Chopin: Complete Mazurkas will be available on ATMA Classique on 9th September 2014.

Janina will be performing the repertoire in two upcoming concerts at Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham on 27th November, and at Wigmore Hall on 1st December.
