Preparations for Songlines Encounters Festival are well under way as the festival marks 3 months to go until its 5th birthday.
Co-curated in partnership with Songlines Magazine, Songlines Encounters Festival this year welcomes musicians from across the globe, including Portugal, Cyprus, Iran, the UK and Bangladesh to Kings Place in London, and artists will also perform across the UK for the very first Songlines Encounters Festival On Tour. In addition to their performances at Kings Place, fadista Gisela João is heading to Manchester, Bury St Edmunds and Southampton; Iranian sisters Mahsa and Marjan Vahdat are travelling to Salisbury, York, Nottingham and Norwich; and Cypriot band Monsieur Doumani are performing at the Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham, and in Swansea, Cardigan, Bury, Morecambe and Wakefield.
Songlines Encounters Festival also includes performances by Scottish fiddler Duncan Chisholm, a high-energy dance night with music courtesy of Afro-electronica group Afriquoi, the festival’s very first kids concert by She’Koyokh and a very special collaboration between London’s Lokkhi Terra and the finest Bangladeshi roots performers, all alongside a whole host of films and talks. This year will be the most packed festival to date!
