Tenor Ian Bostridge’s disc, Shakespeare Songs, featuring Michael Collins alongside pianist Antonio Pappano, lutenist Elizabeth Kenny, violist Lawrence Power and flautist Adam Walker, has won the Best Classical Solo Vocal Album in the 2017 Grammy Awards.
Released with Warner Classics, the disc marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, celebrating the four centuries of music and performance that his plays and sonnets have inspired.
The disc was performed at Wigmore Hall on 15th November 2016, which received high praise from the Financial Times.
The award was tied with Dorothea Röschmann and Mitsuko Uchid’s Decca CD entitled “Schumann & Berg.”
