Stile Antico will return to Spain to visit Madrid and the hill-top city of Avila in their upcoming tour in July. They will perform ‘In a Strange Land’, a program of music by oppressed British Catholic composers such as Tallis, Byrd and Dowland. Their two concerts will both take place in striking venues, as in Madrid (Saturday 22nd July) they will perform outside the grand gate of the Cementerio la Almudena, a large and beautiful cemetery, and in Avila (Sunday 23rd) they will sing in the well-preserved courtyard of the Castillo de Magalia las Navas del Marques, a large historic castle.
Stile Antico will then go on to the ‘International Singing Week’, organised by Zenobia Musica. On the course, for advanced amateur singers, they will teach the finer details of consort singing, culminating in a students’ concert at the end of the week.
