In March 2025, Howard Williams conducted the Pannon Philharmonic in a concert of Borodin, Glazunov and Shostakovich, with István Várdai as cello soloist in the Shostakovich Cello Concerto.

The concert was reviewed by Revizor by John Malina:

“The freshness of the overture, the boldness of its modulations, were sufficiently evident under the direction of Howard Williams , who conducted with precision, care and impeccable expression; yet, just as in Glazunov’s case brilliant knowledge does not replace true inspiration and originality, so too in Williams’s impeccable conducting there was a certain teacherly touch, almost pedantry, perceptible throughout.”
