Tai Murray was in Scotland last week recording the Violin Concerto by Malcolm Hayes with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, conducted by Rory MacDonald.
The piece, Islandscape, was premiered by Tai Murray at the BBC Proms in 2016 with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Thomas Søndergård. It was reviewed at the time by Classical Source as “sustaining a rapt though eventful and subtly evolving atmosphere” and “Such a piece depends on the commitment of its soloist for ensuring a successful realisation, and Tai Murray (playing from memory) had the measure of the often stratospheric writing where flawless intonation is a necessity.”
