Contemporary composers such as Gabriel Jackson, Cecilia McDowall and Matthew Martin nestle alongside twentieth-century choral greats, Howells and Britten, in The Marian Consort’s CD of Marian anthems, ‘Music for the Queen of Heaven’.

This is their eighth recording for Delphian, and follows the success of their last, ‘Stabat mater’, which was shortlisted for a Gramophone Award. Having originally made a name with music from the Renaissance period, The Marian Consort have also worked with living composers, regularly commissioning new works. Marian anthems, as showcased on the disc, celebrate a living tradition, where the new is always informed by the old, casting vital light on these ancient worlds.

The disc will be released on the 20th October, and the preview is available below.
