The Marian Consort Features in Gramophone’s July 2018 Issue

Ahead of the release of their 10th Anniversary Recording, In Sorrow’s Footsteps, The Marian Consort’s very own Rory McCleery sat down for a chat with Martin Cullingford, featured in the July 2018 issue of Gramophone Magazine.

Much of the discussion focuses on the new setting of Sabat Mater by Gabriel Jackson, commissioned in celebration of the group’s 10th anniversary. Jackson’s piece was specifically commissioned to tie in well with The Marian Consort’s extensive educational outreach programme by allowing for the inclusion of younger singers to perform alongside The Marian Consort.

Alongside with the release of In Sorrow’s Footsteps next month, The Marian Consort will continue to perform the programme as part of their 10th Anniversary tour at The Conway Classical Music Festival, the Lammermuir Festival, Roman River Festival, and Derry International Choir Festival.

Watch a preview of In Sorrow’s Footsteps, available July 20 on Delphian Records.
