This August will see the eagerly-awaited release of the London Bridge Trio’s second The Leipzig Circle disc, with SOMM Recordings. Following their highly praised first disc, the trio return to the music of Robert and Clara Schumann, as well as Felix Mendelssohn, for this second CD in their Leipzig Circle collection.
Volume one of the series, released in June 2019, was highly praised by Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine, along with The Telegraph, who called the disc “a total delight. The performers do the works proud.”
The new disc features Schumann’s ebullient F major Trio, full of joy in celebration of his love for Clara, whose own beautifully-crafted G minor Trio is also recorded. Mendelssohn’s D minor, perhaps the most winning Piano Trio in the repertoire, opens the disc.
