The Piatti Quartet returns to Wigmore Hall in London for two concerts on Saturday 7 October 2023. The concerts celebrate the music of contemporary composer, Joseph Phibbs who wrote his String Quartet No.1 for the Piatti Quartet in 2014.
For the first concert, the Piatti Quartet is joined by cellist Guy Johnston – who will perform Phibbs’s Cello Sonata, written for him in 2021 and by pianist Noriko Ogawa and saxophonist Huw Wiggin, who will perform Night Paths, a recent chamber work which features on their critically-acclaimed recording, Rhapsody.
For the second concert, cellist Tim Lowe joins the Piatti Quartet for the world premiere performance of Phibbs’s new work for string quintet, commissioned by Wigmore Hall, as well as Schubert’s String Quintet in C D956.
