On Thursday 19 September Rebecca Miller conducts the Southbank Sinfonia (of which she is Associate Conductor) in a programme of music by Dorothy Howell. The composer’s tone poem Lamia appeared 5 times in the 1919 Proms season and she was hailed by the press at the time as the ‘English Strauss’. Since then her music has rarely been heard and following Rebecca’s work with Howell’s manuscripts at her family home, Rebecca is pleased to present a concert consisting entirely of Dorothy Howell’s music.
Rebecca will revisit Dorothy Howell’s music in two other concerts during the 19/20 season.
