Cellist Adolfo Gutiérrez Arenas with pianist Josu De Solaun launch their new album in a concert on 3rd June at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. The album entitled ‘Parisien’ was released on 16th May on Aria Classics and is available on all streaming platforms
“The Academy presents the album Parisien with a cello and piano recital. Parisien is a sonic portrait of a frontier era. The works included—sonatas by Debussy, Fauré, and Franck, along with gems such as Massenet’s Méditation de Thaïs and Fauré’s Après un rêve—evoke a unique moment in European history: the end of the 19th century and the dawn of the 20th. It’s the time of the Belle Époque, but also the harbinger of a great transformation. Beneath the surface of refinement and sensuality, there stirs an awareness of decline, of fragility, of luminous melancholy.”
