Michael Collins travels to Espoo in Finland to perform at the Espoo Cultural Centre with the Tapiola Sinfonietta on 9th October.
Michael will conduct the concert and also perform the world premiere of Izakhi (Concerto for basset clarinet and orchestra) by Sally Beamish.
“Sally Beamish’s ZAKHI is rooted in an African tradition, exploring the interaction of humans with the classical elements – air, earth, water and fire. The solo instrument here is the basset clarinet, used by Mozart but subsequently lost and then reconstructed. ”
