Freddy Kempf commences his tour of the UK with the Brno Philharmonic, conducted by Dennis Russel Davies. Together they will perform Dave Brubeck’s work ‘Brandenburg Gate, Revisited’ for jazz quartet and orchestra, orchestrated by Howard Brubeck. It is a Bach-like set of variations. According to Darius Brubeck, “exchanges with improvisers evoke feelings from sombre recollection of what the Gate symbolises, to infectious Baroque jolliness, as the spotlight moves from orchestra to soloist and back again.” Freddy will also perform Gershwin’s Variations on ‘I Got Rhythm’ with the orchestra.
14th – Bridgewater Hall, Manchester
15th Symphony Hall, Birmingham
16th – The Anvil, Basingstoke
18th – City Hall, Sheffield
19th – Usher Hall, Edinburgh
Ahead of the tour, this weekend Freddy will perform a recital at Churchill Music in Bristol, performing a recital of works by Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and Shostakovich
